Their special unit, The Arabian Pikemen, are the best defensive units of the earlier time period. Also, The Arabian Pikemen are very cheap to produce.

Aztecs : Are not scientifically powerful because their scientific development speed is 50% lower then other civilizations. The main advantage of the Aztec civilization is that their warriors do not collect a salary at every turn.

Britons : Are a civilization which specialize in attacking and whose cities have a +1 culture bonus. Their special units are the Longbowmen. The Longbowmen are the best attacking units of the earlier time period.

Chinese : The population of Chinese cities increase 33% faster then that of other civilizations. Their special units are The "Chu Ko Nu" who are the speedy mounted archers. However the "Chu Ko Nu" can only be produced once horseback riding is discovered.

Franks : Are people who are good at producing food. All Frank cities can produce +1 food in the areas which has cornfield. Their special unit The Musketeer, who excel in both defending, can only be produced once the Franks discover gunpowder.
